This 5-day Tanzania safari takes you deep into the wilderness by experiencing the most incredible parks on the Northern Circuit of Tanzania. You will visit parks like Lake Manyara famous for its birds, Tarangire National Park famous for its giant baobab trees as well as large African elephants. You will visit the Ngorongoro Crater which is a World Heritage Site, as well as the “endless plains” of the Serengeti. You will stay at midrange lodges or tented camps.
Upon arrival at the airport (Kilimanjaro International Airport-JRO or Arusha Airport-ARK), you will be met by your personal driver-guide or representative who'll drive you to your accommodation. You'll spend the night in Arusha waiting for your adventures to start on the following day.
After breakfast at your accommodation in Arusha, depart for Tarangire National Park. It is Tanzania's third-largest national park and sanctuary for an unusually large elephant population. Majestic baobab trees are an interesting feature of the park, dwarfing the animals that feed beneath them. Animals concentrate along the Tarangire River, which provides the only permanent water supply in the area. There is a great diversity of wildlife including lions, leopards, cheetahs and up to six thousand elephants. You'll enjoy game drives with a picnic lunch. After lunch and an extensive game drive inside the park, we will drive straight to your accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay.
After breakfast, drive to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the largest unbroken calderas on the planet with over 25,000 wild creatures in the caldera. It has more prides per capita than anywhere on earth. The Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtakingly beautiful setting and the best place in East Africa to see the Big Five, lions, leopards, black rhinos, elephants, and buffalo. It is one of the world’s most astonishing and the 8th Wonders of the World and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The black rhino can easily be sighted in the crater. Think of another place in the world where you can see such a unique setting with diverse scenery, prolific wildlife and birdlife, it's an ecosystem like no other. In the afternoon, ascend the crater and drive straight to Serengeti to your accommodation for dinner and your overnight stay.
Early morning after breakfast, you will continue exploring the vast Serengeti with its endless plains looking for the big cats. The Serengeti hosts the largest mammal migration in the world and is a popular destination for African safaris. It is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November. They'll then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge, or crocodile-infested river can hold them back. After lunch, you will drive straight to your accommodation in Karatu for dinner and an overnight stay.
After breakfast at your accommodation, drive to Lake Manyara National Park for a game-viewing drive with a picnic lunch. The park’s varied habitat attracts a wide variety of African animals, including one of Africa’s largest concentrations of elephants and Manyara’s famous tree-climbing lions. You'll also see large flocks of flamingos, attracted by the algae in the lake. You will have lunch at a picnic site and afterwards, enjoy further game viewing. Later, you'll drive back to Arusha or to the airport for your departure to your next destination.
